Abstract
Ce papier analyse la dynamique de la spŽcialisation des activitŽs technologiques mesurŽes par les brevets de 221 rŽgions europŽennes sur la pŽriode 1989-2000. L'approche adoptŽe repose sur la spŽcification d'un modle ˆ erreurs composŽes et ˆ coefficients variables. La modŽlisation prend en compte l'impact des spŽcificitŽs rŽgionales sur la vitesse de convergence technologique et Žtudie comment la croissance Žconomique affecte la spŽcialisation des rŽgions. Les rŽsultats d'estimation montrent (i) une convergence (dŽ-spŽcialisation) des activitŽs technologiques rŽgionales. Les vitesses de dŽ-spŽcialisation varient selon les rŽgions de 0% ˆ 8% par an. (ii) Les capacitŽs inventives initiales et les effets nationaux apparaissent comme des facteurs de dŽcŽlŽration de la vitesse de convergence technologique, (iii) l'effet de la croissance Žconomique sur la spŽcialisation est positif pour les rŽgions ˆ forte propension ˆ breveter mais nŽgatif pour les rŽgions ˆ faibles capacitŽs inventives, toutes choses Žgales par ailleurs.
