Pobreza en la Argentina. Privaciones Múltiples y Asimetrías Regionales

Abstract

En este estudio se presenta un análisis de la pobreza en la Argentina para la última década (2005-2015), cuyo objetivo principal es el de identificar cuáles son los factores que actuaron detrás de los cambios observados a lo largo de este período.Los datos usados provienen de la Encuesta Permanente de Hogares (EPH), a los que se aplicó la metodología multidimensional propuesta por Alkire y Foster (2008 y 2011). La estrategia empírica usada para identificar los determinantes profundos de la pobreza va desde un análisis descriptivo unidimensional para culminar evaluando descomposiciones microeconométricas basadas en Blinder (1973), Oaxaca (1973) y Yun (2005).Como resultado general, se encontró que la pobreza ha caído durante la última década. Ese descenso fue más intenso en el primer quinquenio (2005-2010) que en el segundo, y se redujo la brecha entre los aglomerados alcanzados por la EPH. Pudo verse también que los factores que operaron en uno y otro quinquenio fueron diferentes y que operaron de manera particular en las regiones del país.
