El impacto de las competencias en la empleabilidad de los titulados universitarios de las universidades valencianas

Abstract

El concepto de empleabilidad ha emergido con fuerza en la literatura para referirse a las posibilidades de los individuos de obtener y mantener un empleo adecuado y satisfactorio. La empleabilidad ha llegado a configurarse como uno de los ejes prioritarios de ciertas políticas laborales y educativas europeas, dentro de una estrategia más amplia de competitividad internacional en el marco de la sociedad del conocimiento. En este contexto, la Universidad ha asumido la responsabilidad de fomentar la adquisición de las competencias que los egresados necesitan en su trayectoria profesional. Este trabajo persigue un doble objetivo: por una parte, contrastar si mediante un mecanismo de reducción de la dimensión es posible sintetizar las competencias en los siete conjuntos que plantea el Libro Verde de empleabilidad de los titulados universitarios de la Comunitat Valenciana; y, por otra parte, analizar el impacto de dichas competencias y de otras variables sociodemográficas y relacionadas con los estudios en el desempleo. La fuente de datos utilizada es la encuesta del citado Libro Verde. La muestra contiene 2099 casos. Las metodologías utilizadas son el Análisis Factorial Exploratorio (AFE) y el modelo logit. Los resultados obtenidos reflejan la complejidad del fenómeno que se está analizando y las dificultades para evaluar las competencias genéricas. El AFE ha llevado a la extracción de dos factores altamente correlacionados; uno compuesto mayoritariamente por competencias procedimentales (factor procedimental) y el otro por competencias relacionadas con el conocimiento (factor conceptual). Las puntuaciones factoriales que se han obtenido en el AFE han sido excluidas del modelo logit en el proceso iterativo de estimación. Los autores ofrecen algunas posibles explicaciones a lo largo del artículo. Las variables que han resultado significativas en dicho modelo son la nota media, la rama de enseñanza, la tenencia de hijos, la experiencia internacional y la experiencia laboral durante los estudios.
