International orientierte Unternehmen in Österreich. Rahmenbedingungen für Steuerungsfunktionen und Forschungskompetenz

Abstract

Die internationale Wettbewerbsfähigkeit eines Landes hängt zu einem wesentlichen Teil auch davon ab, wieweit es in den Standortentscheidungen international orientierter Unternehmen für Steuerungsfunktionen (Headquarter) und andere höherwertige Unternehmensfunktionen wie z. B. Forschung und Entwicklung berücksichtigt wird. Im Zuge der Ostöffnung Anfang der neunziger Jahre konnte sich Österreich als Standort für regionale Headquarter mit Verantwortung für die ostmitteleuropäischen Nachbarländer etablieren. Vor dem Hintergrund der bevorstehenden EU-Erweiterung wird in diesem Projekt die Standortwahl international orientierter Unternehmen näher untersucht. Eine schriftliche Unternehmensbefragung sucht Aufschluss über die Bedeutung bestimmter Standortkriterien und die Einschätzung zur Qualität des Standorts Österreich. Im Mittelpunkt des Interesses stehen dabei Standortkriterien einerseits für die Ausübung internationaler Headquarter-Funktionen und andererseits für die Durchführung von Forschungs-, Entwicklungs- und Innovationsaktivitäten.
