Weniger Staus, Staub und Gestank per sozial ausgewogener Städte-Maut: Gemeinsames Plädoyer initiiert von RWI - Leibniz-Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung und der Stiftung Mercator

Abstract

Seit Bekanntwerden des Dieselskandals sind in mehreren deutschen Städten Fahrverbote beschlossen worden, in anderen Kommunen wird darüber diskutiert. Dabei wäre eine Städte-Maut, also eine Gebühr für das Autofahren in der Stadt, die sozial ausgewogenere und gleichzeitig ökonomisch deutlich sinnvollere Alternative. So könnte zugleich ein Verkehrskollaps durch stetig zunehmenden Autoverkehr vermieden werden. Umweltfreundlichere und den Verkehr entlastende Alternativen zum Autoverkehr würden attraktiver und die Kommunen würden zusätzliche Einnahmen erhalten. Dennoch würde niemand, der auf das Auto angewiesen ist, per Fahrverbot aus den Städten verbannt.
