Methodenbericht zur Online-Befragung "Jung und aktiv in ländlichen Räumen"

Abstract

Der vorliegende Methodenbericht präsentiert die Umfrage "Jung und aktiv in ländlichen Räumen", welche vom Thünen-Institut für Lebensverhältnisse in ländlichen Räumen von Januar 2023 bis April 2023 durchgeführt wurde. Die Online-Befragung ist zentraler Bestandteil des Forschungsvorhabens "Jung, im Verein und engagiert (JIVE) - Engagementkulturen junger Menschen in ländlichen Räumen und die Rolle von Vereinen", das im Zeitraum von Mai 2021 bis Juli 2024 im Rahmen der Forschungsinitiative "Ehrenamtliches Engagement in ländlichen Räumen" durch das Bundesministerium für Ernährung und Landwirtschaft gefördert wurde. Im Methodenbericht werden Konzeption, Design und methodisches Vorgehen der quantitativen Primärerhebung ausführlich dargestellt. Zentrales Ziel der Befragung war die Untersuchung des zivilgesellschaftlichen Engagements junger Menschen in sehr ländlich geprägten Regionen Deutschlands. Um ein vertieftes Verständnis vom Engagement junger Menschen zu gewinnen, wurde daher in den drei sehr ländlichen Landkreisen Harz, Börde und Gifhorn eine Online-Befragung durchgeführt, wobei die Studie sich auf organisationsgebundenes Engagement, Einstellungen zum Engagement und zum Vereinsleben konzentrierte. Die Befragung geht über bisherige Befragungsstudien hinaus, indem sie erstens das zivilgesellschaftliche Engagement detailliert und mit einer für umfassende Analysen ausreichend großen Stichprobe erfasst; zweitens die konkreten Engagementtätigkeiten kategorisiert erfasst; drittens bisher unterbelichtete Aspekte der Engagementforschung integriert und viertens neue Fragestellungen systematisch berücksichtigt. Die zentralen Ergebnisse dieser Befragung werden zeitnah in einem Thünen-Report publiziert.
