Wie steht es um Deutschlands Krankenhausinfrastruktur? Überblick und internationaler Vergleich

Abstract

In diesem Report werden Daten zum Stand der Krankenhausinfrastruktur in Deutschland - auch im Vergleich zu anderen Ländern - zusammengefasst und übersichtlich dargestellt. Dies erlaubt keine Aussagen darüber, ob überhaupt oder wann in der gegenwärtigen Situation damit zu rechnen ist, dass Belastungsgrenzen in unserem System überschritten werden - dies hängt stark von der Dynamik ab, mit der intensivmedizinisch zu betreuenden Fälle zunehmen. Das ist aber momentan nur schwer vorherzusagen. Es zeigt sich, dass Deutschland im internationalen Vergleich eine hohe Krankenhausbettendichte hat, auch im Bereich der Intensivmedizin. Allerdings liegt die Ausstattung mit medizinischem Personal in Krankenhäusern lediglich im Mittelfeld der betrachteten Länder. In der gegenwärtigen Situation ist es daher auch wichtig, das vorhandene Personal so einzusetzen, dass Überlastungen der Belegschaft möglichst lange vermieden werden können.
