Mehr Arzneimittel 'made in Germany' über internationale Vernetzung: Industriepolitische Handlungsempfehlungen für eine zukunftsfähige Pharmaindustrie

Abstract

Die Corona-Pandemie hat die deutsche Pharmaindustrie mehr denn je in den Fokus politischer und gesellschaftlicher Diskussionen gestellt. In einer nie dagewesenen Geschwindigkeit haben pharmazeutische Unternehmen mittlerweile vier in Europa zugelassene Impfstoffe entwickelt und auf den Markt gebracht - an diesem Erfolg waren deutsche Unternehmen maßgeblich beteiligt. Darüber hinaus sind bereits zwei Medikamente in Europa für die Therapie von Covid-19-Patient:innen zugelassen und an weiteren wird unter Hochdruck geforscht. Diese schnellen Erfolge konnten nur gelingen, weil sich pharmazeutische Unternehmen rasch untereinander und mit Akteuren entlang der gesamten global aufgestellten pharmazeutischen Wertschöpfungskette vernetzten und dabei neue Technologien wie die mRNA-Plattform zum Einsatz gebracht werden konnten.
