Digitale Eskalation: Zur Systematik toxischer Kommunikation am Beispiel von GTA V

Abstract

Der Beitrag untersucht systematisch die Dynamiken toxischer Kommunikation im Kontext digitaler Spielwelten am Beispiel von GTA V und seinem Online-Modus. Ausgehend von einer persönlichen Spielerfahrung wird gezeigt, wie Spielmechanik, Designentscheidungen und soziale Interaktionen toxisches Verhalten nicht nur ermöglichen, sondern strukturell fördern. Zentrale psychologische Konzepte wie der Online-Disinhibition-Effekt und der Proteus-Effekt werden herangezogen, um das Verhalten der Spieler:innen zu erklären. Das Paper versteht Toxizität als systemisches Phänomen und plädiert für eine differenzierte Verantwortungsteilung zwischen Entwickler:innen, Plattformen, Bildungseinrichtungen und Nutzer:innen.
