Abstract

Die Pharma- und Biotech-Industrie mit ihren 133.000 Beschäftigten ist Innovationsmotor und tragende Säule der industriellen Gesundheitswirtschaft. In den 2020er Jahren steht die Branche vor großen, vielschichtigen Herausforderungen, wie geopolitischen Unsicherheiten, Fachkräfteengpässen und zunehmendem Wettbewerbs-, Preis- und Regulierungsdruck. Gleichzeitig befindet sie sich inmitten eines tiefgreifenden Wandels, geprägt von den drei zentralen, miteinander verknüpften Transformationsfeldern "Biotechnologie und neue Modalitäten", "Digitalisierung und Künstliche Intelligenz" und "neue Geschäftsmodelle und Kooperationen". Aktives Handeln von Unternehmen, Politik und Mitbestimmung ist erforderlich, damit Deutschlands Pharma- und Biotech-Standort wettbewerbsfähig und sozial nachhaltig bleibt.
