Abstiegsängste in Deutschland: Ausmaß und Ursachen in Zeiten des erstarkenden Rechtspopulismus

Abstract

Nach dem Wahlerfolg der AfD bei der letzten Bundestagswahl stellt sich die Frage nach den Ursachen von sozialer Verunsicherung und Ängsten vor dem sozialen Abstieg. Verunsicherung besteht mit Blick auf den Erhalt des sozialen Status und reicht bis weit in die Mittelschichten hinein. In den unteren sozialen Schichten lassen sich Abstiegsängste mit einer schwierigen materiellen Situation erklären. Soziale Verunsi-cherung betrifft aber auch Personen, die nicht unmittelbar von einem sozialen Abstieg bedroht sind. Dies lässt sich damit erklären, dass sich Abstiegsängste auch aus einem Bewusstsein des "Ausgeliefertsein" – vor allem im Arbeitskontext – speisen. Das eher diffuse Gefühl einer allgemeinen sozialen Verunsicherung macht sich die AfD zu nutze.
