Der Einfluss von Arbeitslosigkeit der Ehemänner auf die Zeitallokation von Paaren

Abstract

Auf Basis des Sozio-oekonomischen Panels (Wellen 1993-2012) untersuche ich die Veränderung der Zeitallokationen von Ehemännern und Ehefrauen, wenn die Ehemänner unfreiwillig in Arbeitslosigkeit geraten. Für die Ehemänner in Ost- und Westdeutschland lassen sich eindeutige Anpassungen feststellen: Die Zeitverwendungen für Hausarbeit (und ihre Unteraktivitäten), Freizeit und persönliche Regeneration steigen an, wobei die Erhöhung für persönliche Regeneration den größten Anteil ausmacht. Dagegen zeigen deskriptive Analysen und Fixe-Effekte-Regressionen keine Reaktionen in den Zeitallokationen der Ehefrauen an. Damit tritt auch kein 'added-worker'-Effekt auf. Bei der Betrachtung der Haushaltsebene ergeben sich entsprechende Anpassungen wie bei den Ehemännern. Dieses deutet auf Ausweitungen geldsparender Aktivitäten zur Kompensation des Verlustes an Haushaltseinkommen durch die Arbeitslosigkeit der Ehemänner hin. Durch die Anpassungen der Zeitallokationen erhöht sich der Anteil der Ehefrauen an der Gesamtarbeit im Haushalt deutlich.
