Abstract

Informatie over de huidige situatie op de arbeidsmarkt is onvoldoende voor studiekiezers, werkgevers en beleidsmakers om beslissingen te nemen die over de toekomst gaan; de arbeidsmarkt kan binnen enkele jaren dusdanig veranderen dat een keuze of investering anders uitpakt dan verwacht. Om te voldoen aan de behoefte aan vooruitkijkende arbeidsmarktinformatie publiceert het Researchcentrum voor onderwijs en arbeidsmarkt (ROA) sinds de jaren ‘80 de resultaten van een arbeidsmarktprognosemodel waarbij vraag en aanbod voor de komende zes jaar geschat worden. De resultaten tonen hoe vraag en aanbod naar verwachting zullen toe- of afnemen. Samen met aanvullende informatie over de huidige aansluiting tussen studie en werk geeft dit model het totaalbeeld van hoe de Nederlandse arbeidsmarkt zich naar verwachting op de middellange termijn zal ontwikkelen. Met behulp van de resultaten kunnen studiekiezers een opleiding kiezen met goede baankansen, werkgevers hun wervingsstrategie aanpassen om schaars personeel aan te trekken en overheden beleidsmaatregelen treffen om problematische mismatches tussen vraag en aanbod te voorkomen.
