Croissance et convergence économiques des régions: théorie, faits et déterminants

Abstract

Depuis le milieu des années 60, les écarts de production par habitant se sont creusés entre la Flandre et la Wallonie et les observations ne laissent pas augurer une convergence à moyen terme. Pour mieux comprendre ce phénomène, cet ouvrage rassemble, en quatre parties, quatorze contributions récentes sur ce thème. La première, illustrative, permet, à l'aide de statistiques d'activité usuelles, de positionner les régions belges par rapport aux autres régions d'Europe. La seconde présente une revue de la littérature récente sur la convergence régionale. La troisième partie est consacrée plus spécifiquement aux analyses statistiques de la convergence des régions d'Europe. Enfin, la quatrième partie évalue les politiques de croissance régionale menées en Belgique durant ces dernières décennies.
