Abstract

Development of globalization carries permanently changes in international trade relationships both in goods and increasingly in services. There are an increasing number of economic activities that are traded worldwide. This paper boards old and new issues of globalization from three points of view. Restrictiveness of trade on goods that Uruguay establish and faces are analyzed considering both tariff and non tariff barriers, in a methodology based on the Overall Trade Restrictiveness Index (OTRI). Also, we introduce the recent literature that takes into account the new features of international trade, giving an analytical frame to the delocalization of specific tasks of firms (known as offshoring on services). Finally, we describe and analyze in a single frame the new disciplines that rule the international trade relationships of Uruguay.
