Abstract

This paper analyzes the total generation of resources considering household production and labor market income for Uruguay, by age, distinguishing between men and women. We apply the methodology of the National Time Transfer Accounts System (NTTA) and the National Transfer Accounts System (NTA). This provides information on total resources generated by age (in the labor market and in household production) and consumption by age, for men and women. The data come from the Time Use Survey and the Continuous Household Survey conducted by the National Institute of Statistics for the year 2021. The results show that male and female resource generation is similar (in per capita terms) with male specialization in market production and female specialization in household production. In addition, women in the middle ages make significantly larger net transfers of time than men, both in terms of the age range in which they transfer and the magnitude of the transfer at each age.
