Abstract

Hvilken betydning har andre faktorer enn forskning og utvikling for innovasjon. Det er velkjent at bedrifter anvender store ressurser på design, opplæring, markedsutvikling og liknende i tillegg til FoU. Design dreier seg om ikke kun om estetiske kvaliteter ved et produkt, men også om allmenne teknologiske og funksjonelle karakteristika. Design er følgelig en sentral komponent i innovasjonsprosessen.Dette forprosjektet er, så vidt vites, det første forsøk på å analysere og teste konsekvensene av bedrifters investering i design for innovasjonsevnen og lønnsomhet i norsk industri. Gjør design-intensive bedrifter det bedre enn bedrifter som ikke engasjerer seg i design?
