補習是一種社會風俗

Abstract

補習是台灣學生升學道路上很難避免的經歷,為什麼升學方式不論是聯考或甄試、一元或多元,錄取率不管是30%或90%,都無法消弭甚至無法減輕補習的風氣?經過幾番思量,我們認為這個社會現象可用以下的切入角度加以解釋。雖然補習可以有效增強學生應考能力,但補習有違反公平競爭原則等缺點,所以補習可說是一種牴觸社會規範的不道德行為。考生補習時因此需要多承擔一些道德壓力,此壓力大小和補習風氣盛行與否息息相關。補習的人愈多,補習帶來的壓力愈小。若長期的歷史文化背景或近期的教育環境,在某一時期中很適合補習風氣的成長,使整個社會的補習行為逐漸普及化,補習就可能會演變成一種流行文化或社會風俗。此時「補習是不應該的」社會規範,就會完全喪失掉約束人們不可參加補習的力量,很多人補習的現象就會變成一種穩定的社會風氣。當升學補習已成為一種穩定的社會風氣後,升學方式的改變與錄取率的提升,都無法消弭、甚至連減輕補習的風氣也很困難。
