Abstract

The present study, which relates the connection between the discourse "science and religion" and projects on socio-political change, also contributes to modern scientific discussions about the causes of the Russian Revolution of 1917. One aspect of the current debate is the social dimension of revolutionary activity in the context of disputes about the nature of secularization as a concept and phenomenon of European culture. An analysis of the spectrum of interpretations of the relationship between "science" and "religion" makes it possible to raise the question of the meaning of the discourse "science and religion" as an ideological factor of the secularization of the intellectual culture of the Russian Empire.
