La Política de Competencia Internacional

Abstract

En poco tiempo comenzará una nueva ronda de negociaciones multilaterales en el ámbito de la OMC, la Ronda del Milenio. En este foro se debatirá sobre la necesidad de generar cooperación y/o armonización de las reglas de defensa de la competencia. Se presume que se expondrán a la luz, entonces, las contradicciones entre los preceptos que guían al presente algunas reglas de política comercial multilateral versus el objetivo generalmente aceptado de la política antitrust: el bienestar económico de largo plazo. En este trabajo se presentan los argumentos que orientan el debate actual en la materia y se ilustra con la exposición de un ejemplo sobre esta controversia: las contradicciones entre la política antidumping y la política antitrust referida a precios predatorios y discriminación de precios
