The paper examines the issue of the administrative-territorial division of the Republic of Bulgaria, juxtaposing the changes in this area that took place in different historical periods. The Bulgarian achievements in the administrative reforms are analyzed not only in the context of historical experience, but also on the basis of a comparative legal study with a number of Western countries, Several trends for the future development of the Bulgarian administrative reform are outlined. В статията се разглежда въпросът за административно-териториално устройство на Република България, като се съпоставят извършените промени в тази област през различни исторически периоди. Българските достижения в административните реформи се анализира не само в контекста на историческия опит, но и на база сравнителноправно изследване с редица западни държави. Очертават се и някои тенденции за бъдещото развитие на административната реформа у нас.
