Abstract

The article analyses some aspects of the draft amendment and supplement to the Regulations for the Implementation of the Development of Academic Staff in the Republic of Bulgaria Act, which is submitted for public discussion. The aim of this paper is to examine the characteristics of the popular scientific publication and to point out the main differences between it and the scientific publication. The emphasis of the paper is on the indicator "popular scientific publication", on the one hand, because it is common and is provided for all nine scientific fields. On the other hand, publications (especially scientific publications) are one of the most important indicators in academic development procedures. The analysis presented could serve to improve the legal regulation in future amendments.
