Zoom sur l'enseignement et la formation professionnels (EFP)

Abstract

En 2012, dans plus d’un tiers des pays de l’OCDE, plus de la moitié des élèves du deuxième cycle du secondaire suivaient une filière préprofessionnelle ou professionnelle, mais moins de 30 % d’entre eux avaient accès à un apprentissage en milieu professionnel. Les pays bénéficiant de dispositifs d’enseignement professionnel et d’apprentissage bien établis et de qualité sont parvenus à améliorer les débouchés de leurs jeunes sur le marché du travail. Toutefois, dans nombre de pays de l’OCDE, le pourcentage de jeunes sans emploi ne suivant ni études ni formation (NEET, pour Neither Employed nor in Education or Training) reste plus élevé parmi les diplômés de la filière professionnelle du deuxième cycle du secondaire que parmi ceux de la filière générale. Les élèves qui entament une formation à vocation professionnelle sont moins susceptibles d’en sortir diplômés que ceux qui suivent une filière générale. En outre, à niveau égal de compétences en littératie, les diplômés de la filière professionnelle du deuxième cycle du secondaire sont près de 5 fois moins susceptibles de poursuivre leurs études que ceux de la filière générale.
