Le recours aux engrais en Afrique : les prix en question

Abstract

De nombreux engagements ont été pris par les dirigeants africains en vue d’induire une forte croissance agricole en mettant l’accent sur la productivité, notamment par le recours aux engrais. Actuellement, les progrès sont lents et les engagements pris ne sont, pour la majeure partie des pays, pas encore respectés, faute de non mise en place de conditions favorables à l’atteinte de ces objectifs. Des interventions ciblées sont nécessaires pour réduire les coûts de transaction et améliorer les conditions d’accès des agriculteurs aux engrais. Cela aura peu d’effet sans la mise en place de packages technologiques appropriés ainsi que des services connexes. Des stratégies doivent également être mises en œuvre pour améliorer les capacités de production d’engrais au sein du continent, accélérer la connexion de ses économies par des infrastructures de transport pour, enfin, créer un véritable marché d’engrais intra africain.
