La educación universitaria de los jóvenes: una estimación de la probabilidad de acceder a ella para los hogares argentinos

Abstract

Un objetivo social ampliamente aceptado por la población de un país consiste en garantizar la igualdad de oportunidades de acceso a la educación universitaria para todos los individuos. Sin embargo no se presentan evidencias concluyentes que avalen la existencia de dicha igualdad. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la situación en la población de la República Argentina. Se cuantifican las oportunidades de acceso a la educación superior en términos de probabilidades de acceso para diferentes perfiles de hogar, para lo cual se emplea un modelo de regresión logística. La fuente de los datos es la muestra de hogares de la Encuesta Nacional de Gasto de Hogares (1996/97). Una parte muy importante de las desigualdades de acceso a la universidad se vincula al entorno familiar de pertenencia, y especialmente influye como factor condicionante el nivel educativo de los padres.
