De la reciente XXVII Conferencia Internacional de Economistas Agrícolas - Beijing, China, agosto de 2009

Abstract

En esta conferencia, que se realiza cada tres años, se discuten los complejos problemas alimentarios, productivos y de mercado que enfrenta la Agricultura en el mundo, con especial énfasis en los enormes contrastes que presentan los países debido al dispar grado de desarrollo y bienestar rural alcanzado. Si bien fueron múltiples los temas abordados en la Conferencia, en este artículo se desea sintetizar los resultados vertidos por investigadores de la Academia China de Ciencias Agrícolas y el Instituto de Estudios Internacionales de la Universidad de Stanford, Jinkun Huang y Scout Rozelle, en relación al rápido crecimiento de este país y a la repercusión que dicho crecimiento ha tenido en el resto del mundo debido a su tamaño, los cambios en el proceso de urbanización y su apertura a los mercados externos.
