From restructuring to new technologies: policies of a small European country (Belgium)

Abstract

Working paper on computer aided manufacturing, management information systems and specific industry restructuring in Belgium - based on case studies of the introduction of information technology and microelectronics innovations in the iron and steel industry and the textile industry, discusses industrial policy options, including industrial promotion of the electronics industry, the impact of subsidies on competitiveness, and the international division of labour. Bibliography, statistical tables.
