Labour migration in the sierra of Ecuador: causes and incidence

Abstract

ILO pub-wep pub. Working paper on trends in rural migration and internal migration before and following the land reform act of 1964 in the sierra of Ecuador - presents characteristics of migrants relating to sex, age, landownership, household, wages, division of labour, etc., And discusses reasons for migraton in view of economic growth transforming the agrarian structure and leading to a reduction in small farm agricultural income. Bibliography pp. 41 and 42 and statistical tables.
