Arbeitsmarkt in Berlin-Brandenburg: Coronabedingter Beschäftigungseinbruch nach langjährigem Wachstum

Abstract

"Der vorliegende regionale Bericht für Berlin und Brandenburg betrachtet die Auswirkungen der Corona-Pandemie auf Kurzarbeit und Beschäftigung bis Oktober 2020 bzw. bis Februar 2021. Unmittelbar nach Beginn der Maßnahmen zur Viruseindämmung stiegen die Anteile der Personen in Kurzarbeit im März und April des Jahres 2020 erheblich an und reduzierten sich mit Lockerung der Einschränkungen über den Sommer 2020 hinweg. Hiervon betroffen waren besonders die Gastronomie und Beherbergung, die weit überdurchschnittliche Anteile an Beschäftigten in Kurzarbeit verzeichneten und zugleich zahlenmäßig von großer Relevanz für Berlin und Brandenburg sind. Weiterhin wird deutlich, dass Kurzarbeit nicht alle Beschäftigungsrückgänge verhindern konnte. Hierbei ergeben sich deutliche Unterschiede zwischen den Wirtschaftszweigen einerseits aber auch zwischen Berlin und Brandenburg andererseits. Eine Gegenüberstellung der langfristigen Wachstumsraten der Beschäftigung und kurzfristigen Veränderungen seit Beginn der Pandemie zeigt, dass insbesondere in den Bereichen Gastronomie/Beherbergung und Dienstleistungen für Unternehmen und Privatpersonen mit einer raschen Erholung nach Ende der Pandemie zu rechnen ist."
