Regional befolkningsomfördelning bland unga och gamla

Abstract

Efter några decennier av måttlig befolkningsomfördelning i Sverige gav 1990-talets andra hälft tydligt prov på en geografisk koncentration av befolkningen. Här argumenteras för att befolkningsomfördelningen bör undersökas på en geografisk nivå med samma höga upplösningsgrad som människors bosättning sker. Av denna uppsats framgår att befolkningen inte bara koncentreras regionalt, utan också polariseras inomregionalt. Det är framför allt unga vuxna och barn (!) som i allt högre grad bor i de största tärorterna. De mellanstora tätorterna förlorar mest befolkning på omfördelningen, medan landsbygden klarat sig bättre trots att dess befolkning inte längre föryngras. Följaktligen spelar regionernas ortsstorleksstruktur en roll för deras befolkningsutveckling. Befokningens äldre omfördelas geografiskt i mindre grad än de unga, men i andra riktningen, d v s till de mellanstora tätorterna. Som en effekt av detta tenderar ålderssegregeringen öka i Sveriges befolkning.
