What Vilfredo Pareto brought to the economics of knowledge

Abstract

L'article monte en quoi la représentation de la rationalité des acteurs sociaux chez Pareto dépasse largement celle de l'homo-œconomicus rationnel que l'on prête, à tort, à l'économie pure parétienne. L'article met en évidence pourquoi Pareto peut être considéré comme un précurseur de l'économie ou la sociologie de la connaissance. Il montre, à partir d'une relecture de la typologie des actions proposée par Pareto, pourquoi cette typologie renvoie aux concepts contemporains de rationalité substantive, procédurale, située ou cognitive. Alors que les lecteurs de Pareto admettent une séparation stricte entre son économie et sa sociologie à partir de la distinction proposée entre actions logiques et non-logiques, on montre que cette séparation n'est pas suffisante pour traiter indépendamment de l'économie et de la sociologie.
