Abstract

Alors que la définition même du développement durable fait débat, un consensus semble avoir émergé sur la nécessité d'agir localement pour résoudre un problème global. Cela implique, notamment pour les scientifiques, de concevoir de nouveaux outils de mesure du développement durable à l'échelle des territoires. Plusieurs études empiriques ont été menées en ce sens sur des territoires multiples, aux caractéristiques parfois proches (villes, régions, etc.). L'objectif de cet article est de déterminer si l'hétérogénéité des territoires étudiés résulte nécessairement en une hétérogénéité des systèmes d'indicateurs proposés. A partir d'une revue de la littérature académique internationale, nous montrons que, en l'état actuel des recherches, on ne peut établir de liens entre les caractéristiques des territoires et les systèmes d'indicateurs proposés.
