Abstract

L'objectif du programme national de Biodiesel lancé par le gouvernement fédéral brésilien en 2004 est de développer la production du biodiesel en relation avec les petits agriculteurs familiaux des régions semi-arides et à partir de plantes qui n'entrent pas directement dans la chaîne alimentaire humaine et animale. Effectuées dans diverses ragions du Nordeste et du nord du Brésil, quatre études sur le terrain évaluent, sur une ensemble de critères, l'implantation de ce programme, afin de déterminer si les communautés paysannes concernées participent concrètement à ces actions, dans le cadre d'associations et de coopératives et, si ces projets favorisent l'insertion sociale de cette population très marginalisée.
