Abstract

Actes du colloque consacré à l'analyse des interrelations entre les transports et la forme urbaine. Le thème central est ici l'étalement urbain et les problèmes qu'il induit.A l'heure où les pouvoirs publics cherchent par tous les moyens à freiner l'augmentation de leurs dépenses, il est impérieux de préciser les véritables enjeux et d'ouvrir des perspectives de solutions. Dans quelle mesure ce phénomène d'étalement urbain induit-il des difficultés particulières pour les systèmes de transport ? Faut-il adapter la politique de transport aux besoins nés de l'étalement ? Devrait-on plutôt contenir l'étalement urbain ? Peut-on satisfaire à la fois les besoins du centre et de la périphérie à des coûts « raisonnables » pour la collectivité ? Comment optimiser la structuration de l'espace métropolitain ? Ce sont quelques-unes des questions clés abordées dans ce livre à travers les différentes communications et discussions du colloque.
