Abstract

Performance is a central focus for organizations and their managers. Many studies dealing with performance evaluation appeared in Management Science. This paper explores the link between Knowledge Management (KM) initiative and performance. Based on a double focus concerning performance evaluation, this article both examines theoretical and empiri-cal contributions about this subject. This state of art underlines a moving toward integrative models from a theoretical point of view while empirical approaches seem to be in favour of specific metrics. The comparison of both theoretical and empirical contributions aims at constructing a gen-eral framework to measure KM performance. This framework is applied to four consulting organizations who have implemented a KM initiative.
