Abstract

À chaque étape de la grande crise que nous traversons, la confiance est sans cesse évoquée et invoquée : à la crise de confiance dans les marchés, les États, l'avenir, répond la nécessité de rétablir, ramener, retrouver la confiance. Comment comprendre l'importance de cette notion complexe dans le système économique, social et politique ? Quelles en sont les différentes définitions et les diverses formes ? Peut-on vraiment mesurer la confiance ? Quels sont ses causes supposées et ses effets attendus ? Quel est l'état véritable des confiances en France ? En répondant à toutes ces questions à la lumière des auteurs classiques et des travaux les plus contemporains, cet ouvrage veut aussi mettre en garde contre les abus de la notion de confiance. Celle-ci apparaît trompeusement comme un saint graal des sciences sociales, alors qu'elle n'est ni bonne en soi, ni bonne à tout. Elle ne permet ni de tout comprendre, ni de tout régler dans les sociétés humaines. Comme il y a de bonnes et de mauvaises confiances, il y en a de bons et de mauvais usages.
