Abstract

In a socio-demographic context marked by a growing proportion of elderly people in the population, the attention paid to health expenditure and the adaptation of the health system to the specificities of care and treatment of this category of population concerns many disciplines, including health management sciences and engineering sciences. By working together, these two disciplines can provide more complete answers regarding the identification of the actors involved in the health system, the times of their intervention(s), the relationships they have, their action constraints, in order to identify the organisational arrangements (between the stakeholders of the system) to be retained for greater efficiency. However, a first difficulty comes from the variety of terminology used. In this paper, we propose to review what the expressions "health pathway", "care pathway" and "life pathway" mean for the legal and administrative authorities and researchers in management and engineering sciences who have studied these issues in order to identify the definition that will be adopted for our work.
