Abstract

Cet article, realise notamment a partir de dépouillements spécifiques de l'enquête du SCEES sur le matériel des exploitations en 1983, analyse l'équipement des exploitations en tracteurs, l'état du parc à l'échelle globale et selon les principaux systèmes de production. Sont aussi étudiés le nombre de tracteur par exploitation, par travailleur et par unité de surface ainsi que leur puissance, leur durée d'utilisation, leur âge et l'importance du recours au travail à l'entreprise ou en coopérative de matériel. Quand les données sont disponibles, on effectue également des comparaisons avec les autres pays européens et on analyse l'évolution depuis une vingtaine d'années. Ce tableau de l'équipement en tracteurs des exploitations apparaît nuancé: l'age moyen élevé (13 ans en 1983) des tracteurs du parc ne doit pas trop alarmer puisqu'il est du en partie à la présence de vieux tracteurs utilises à titre d'appoint; pour la mème raison la densité d'un tracteur pour 20 ha de SAU seulement ou leur faible durée d'utilisation annuelle (400 h en moyenne) ne doivent pas faire déduire trop rapidement qu'il existe une motorisation excessive. Toutefois on peut s'inquiéter de la faiblesse du taux de renouvellement du parc.
