Abstract

Cet article évalue le poids des prix et de la qualite dans la competitivite des produits agricoles et agro-alimentaires de certains pays du Sud de la Mediterranee et de l’Union europeenne. L’approche utilisee consiste a estimer les elasticites prix et qualite a partir d’un modele econometrique sur donnees de panel. Deux mesures differentes de la qualite sont proposees : la premiere est derivee d’une analyse descriptive des performances a l’exportation des differents pays inclus dans l’echantillon ; la deuxieme est inferee des observations sur les valeurs unitaires a l’exportation. L’analyse revele un effet preponderant de la qualite et de la diversification dans le commerce international des produits agricoles. Ce travail fournit quelques elements d’analyse permettant d’apprecier les effets eventuels de la liberalisation agricole sur certains pays mediterraneens.
