Pourquoi les fondations sont-elles si rares en France ?

Abstract

Comparativement aux pays de développement comparable, il y a très peu de fondations en France et le statut associatif est le plus souvent préféré pour promouvoir des causes d'intérêt général. Les causes historiques et juridiques de cette désaffection sont analysées avant que l'on esquisse un panorama de ce monde secret. L'attitude ambiguë des pouvoirs publics envers les fondations, oscillant entre incitations favorables et contrôle rigoureux sera-t-elle modifiée par la récente loi sur le mécénat ?
