Abstract

Este Documento de Trabajo analiza cómo la pobreza mediatiza una multiplicidad de riesgos en la vida de los niños. Se presentan tres argumentos principales vinculados a las experiencias de riesgo de los niños en nuestra muestra. El primero de ellos es que el riesgo no es solo una característica de infancia extraordinaria y circunstancias excepcionales, sino también una parte integral del día a día; vidas “ordinarias” en las cuales el joven negocia múltiples e interactivos desafíos. El segundo argumento concierne a la importancia de las dimensiones del riesgo social y moral para los niños; y cómo estas modelan sus respuestas a la adversidad. El tercer argumento sugiere que en familias cuyas generaciones dependen mutuamente entre ellas, los niños pueden jugar un rol esencial en la reducción del riesgo en el hogar.
