El coronavirus y los retos para el trabajo de las mujeres en América Latina

Abstract

La pandemia del COVID-19 ha causado una parada súbita de la economía. ¿De qué manera esta situación ha afectado el trabajo de las mujeres en América Latina? La respuesta a esta interrogante demanda enfocar la política en los impactos diferenciados entre mujeres y hombres. Con ello, es necesario evitar fórmulas generalizadas que eventualmente profundicen las brechas de género. Este documento explora los impactos de género de la crisis económica en 16 países de la región, vistos desde cuatro perspectivas: las jóvenes, las mujeres pobres, las personas que viven en el ámbito rural y las cabezas del hogar. En la búsqueda de la igualdad de oportunidades para mujeres y hombres, se incluyen opciones transversales de política en tres ámbitos: los hogares, el trabajo, y los espacios entre el trabajo y el hogar.
