Abstract

En el artículo se explora la pobreza a través de dos posiciones que se enfrentan en cinco asuntos relevantes: definición de pobreza, medición, su relación con el crecimiento económico y la desigualdad, así como las políticas resultantes. Se concluye que las acciones recomendadas para combatir la pobreza dependerán, en gran parte, de la definición con la que se inicia porque ella enmarca el problema y por tanto sus soluciones. ****** The article explores the poverty through two positions that face each other in five relevant topics: Poverty definition, measurement, its relation to economic growth and inequality as well as the resultant policies. It concludes that the recommended actions to fight poverty will depend, largely, on its starting definition because it frames the problem and therefore, its solutions.
