Abstract

El documento se divide en cuatro grandes partes además de esta introducción y la conclusión. En la primera explicamos el funcionamiento de la cadena de producción del arroz y el desarrollo reciente de los patrones de producción y consumo. En la segunda, modelamos el efecto de la política comercial en el mercado del arroz y presentamos estimaciones del efecto sobre bienestar de esta política. En la tercera parte mostramos el efecto diferencial por grupos de ingresos y, en particular, el efecto de cambios en el precio del arroz en índices de pobreza y de indigencia. La última sección presenta algunas consideraciones de política pública.
