Los Efectos del Covid-19 Sobre la Duración del Desempleo Juvenil en Cali (Colombia)

Abstract

Las oportunidades para los jóvenes calenos, como resultado de la pandemia, se han reducido considerablemente. Si bien, antes de la pandemia ya experimentaban una alta tasa de desempleo y una baja tasa de ocupación, comparadas con aquellas de la ciudad, la pandemia acrecentó esta brecha. Sin embargo, el Covid-19 no solo amplió la brecha en tasas, también incrementó los tiempos para conseguir empleo, generó problemas de salud mental y evidenció diferencias espaciales. Los resultados aquí reportados muestran la necesidad de tener una política pública específica que reconozca estos problemas, los cuales dejan de ser coyunturales para convertirse en estructurales, y que requieren de una política pública juvenil de mediano y largo plazo para el territorio.
