Diferencias de ingresos y retornos a la educación entre trabajadores formales e Informales en Colombia

Abstract

“El presente documento examina las diferencias en retornos a la educación a lo largo de la distribución de salarios y las diferencias en ingreso entre el sector formal e informal en Colombia en los anos 1997 y 2003. El sector informal se construyó partiendo de las definiciones dualista y estructuralista. Se encontró que las personas con menos de 11 anos de educación ubicadas en la parte superior de la distribución de salarios tienen un retorno mayor en el sector formal. Para este mismo grupo de personas se encontró un retorno mayor en el sector informal en la parte baja de la distribución. Para las personas con más de 11 anos de educación, los retornos son mayores en el sector informal a partir de la mitad de la distribución de salarios. Por último, se encontró una diferencia de ingreso a favor del sector formal.”
