Crecimiento y desarrollo en chile: productividad, salarios y pacto fiscal

Abstract

Con la llegada de la democracia a partir de los anos noventa, la economía chilena ha experimentado un crecimiento sostenido, comparable solo con los niveles alcanzados durante el periodo desarrollista, traducido en una tasa de crecimiento promedio de un 5,5% del PIB anual entre 1990 y 2007. A pesar de ello, no ha sido posible reducir el excesivo nivel de desigualdades y garantizar un mejor estándar de vida. El mensaje central de esta investigación es que las desigualdades económicas y sociales en Chile radican en su enorme heterogeneidad productiva, debido a la presencia de sectores económicos muy productivos, los cuales generan la mayor parte del PIB nacional y emplean a un porcentaje muy reducido de la población. Como recomendación se propone generar un nuevo pacto fiscal y disponer de instituciones adecuadas.
