Cómo eligen las mujeres?: Un estudio sobre la participación laboral femenina

Abstract

El estudio de la decisión de participación, y más aún, la elección de los tipos de empleo en los que un individuo puede desempenarse, puede ser concluyente en la dinámica de los procesos de movilidad social que se generan dentro de una población. Este documento analiza los determinantes de la participación femenina en cuatro tipos de ocupación, considerando tales elecciones para tres categorias socioeconómicas: estrato bajo, medio y alto. Se utilizó la Encuesta Continua de Hogares 2006 - II para estimar un modelo logit multmomial que permitió dar cuenta de la forma cómo eligen las mujeres, reconociendo que aquellas de estratos más bajos y menos educadas, eligen empleos menos remunerados siguiendo la lógica del trabajador anadido, mientras que quienes pertenecen a un segmento social más alto, lo hacen bajo la lógica del trabajador alentado, escogiendo empleos mejor calificados y remunerados.
