Importancia económica del sector automotor en Colombia

Abstract

El estudio analiza el impacto del sector automotor sobre la economía colombiana desde distintas aproximaciones. En la primera, se analiza la evolución de la producción, el comercio exterior, la apertura exportadora y la penetración de importaciones. Se evidencia el aumento de las importaciones como resultante del estancamiento de la producción nacional frente al aumento del consumo interno. En la segunda sección se analiza el comercio, la industria y los bienes complementarios del sector. Se encuentra que el aporte en valor agregado del comercio es superior a la industria, así como en personal ocupado, sin embargo, el salario y costo laboral promedio tienen el orden inverso. Los bienes complementarios evidencian comportamientos crecientes, similares a los del sector automotor. Se muestra que el crecimiento del sector es sostenible conforme Colombia converja a tasas de motorización similares a las de América Latina. En la última sección se calcula el impacto sobre valor agregado de los sectores mediante la matriz insumo-producto de 2011. Los resultados indican que la industria tiene un impacto sobre el valor agregado con encadenamientos de 11,1 billones de pesos, el comercio de 12,1 billones de pesos y los bienes complementarios (talleres, seguros, peajes y combustibles) aportan 29,1 billones, para un total de 52,3 billones de pesos.
