El desarrollo económico de los países

Abstract

No existe consenso alrededor de cuáles factores o variables, aparte del Pib per cápita, pueden caracterizar o definir el desarrollo económico y orientar su ensenanza. En este trabajo se propone una definición sencilla y operacional con base en el nivel del pib per cápita y la distribución del ingreso. Se elabora un índice de desarrollo económico el cual se utiliza para clasificar una muestra de países de la conocida base de Deininger y Squire. Los resultados difieren significativamente de los ordenamientos producidos por el Indice de Desarrollo Humano de Naciones Unidas y por el Pib per cápita.
